The Man… the Rifle… the Flower and the Photograph That Changed the World.

Flower Power the famous photograph from 1967 by Bernie Boston a Washington D.C. native and photographer for the local newspaper The Washington Star (Now defunct). The young protestor was 18 year old George Edgerly Harris III from New York City on his way to San Francisco found himself in Washington D.C. on October 21, 1967 at a protest at the Pentagon against the Vietnam War. At a pivotal point that day when it looked as if it was going to get out of hand George Harris stepped up and placed Chrysanthemums in the barrels of the rifles that were pointed [...]

Impromptu East Village Sushi Picnic With RuPaul… Sounds Fishy.

1980′s Original vlogger Nelson Sullivan out and about late night in the East Village NYC on Avenue A. Hanging with RuPaul and friend Nazomi checking out the latest Polaroid photographs and having a impromptu sushi picnic on the sidewalk just across from the Pyramid Club in Alphabet City. A refreshing time when people were still social and looking at pictures didn’t require an Iphone or Ipad.   Late Night Sushi Picnic on Avenue A, Courtesy of 5ninthavenueproject. Thank you

Remembering the Ninth Circle With David Henry

tree was fun. always asked me to show my id, when i reported i left it home, he would simply turn me around, pat my fat butt, and stamp my wrist to let me in. then i made my bee line to the back, down the stairs, into the bathroom and hide out for a few minutes. I had my 21st bday there, drank18 shots of some apricot schnapps (lit on fire) “flaming fag??”, fell asleep on the bar till my friend michael boccino from hoboken came to get me, i had a 9th circle tee shirt i treasured, if [...]

Fifteen Things Gay Guys Should Stop Doing

We agree with a handful. We’re sure you will connect to a few as well. 1. Going into a gay bar and deciding immediately that you hate everybody there. Then getting upset when no one hits on you. 2. Shaming someone or deeming them unattractive for acting “femme.” Not only is this some deep self-loathing shit, it also feeds into the idea that behaving in a feminine way is, in fact, bad. AKA misogyny! 3. Feeling the pressure to act in a certain accordance of “gayness.” Spoiler: you can never be “too gay” or not “gay enough.” 4. Snapping your [...]

Best “Walk of Shame” Story, Ever.

As a denizen of the night, living in NYC for nearly 30 years, I have more than my share of ridiculous stories of my misadventures. However, this particular tale is probably one that falls into the category of “Did that just REALLY happen?” I remember the 80′s and 90′s NYC as the time when every night if the week was a different venue/club and a different party to attend, different guest lists to be put upon, and making sure we had at least some drink tickets. My friend Leah Ann and I (she worked at the peep-show owned by the [...]
