Bijou 82 or better known to most as Club 82 on 4th Street and 2nd Avenue in the East Village opened their doors in 1951 as a Drag Cabaret night spot. In 1958 it became one of the hottest Drag Cabaret night spot in New York City with 3 shows nightly, with the likes of:

In 1978 Club 82 became more of a Glam Rock venue made famous by people like:

- The New York Dolls
During 1989 Club 82 changed over to a 48 seating gay adult porn theater called The Bijou Cinema that was opened 24 hours a day 365 days out of the year. Bijou 82 also had a section with buddy booths where they played XXX videos and random sex acts were engaged. By the 1990s the Bijou 82 was encountering random raids by the NYPD police and had to change over to an indie film theater where they play foreign films in buddy booths. Today it still run like an independent film cinema and continues to serve the East Village (NSA, No Strings Attached fun) community.
